Cabin crew is one of the most popular Akbar Academy tracks — and one where students most need clear expectations. Here's what a cabin crew career actually looks like in 2026, from eligibility through pay through progression.

Eligibility — the basics

Age: Typically 18–27 for entry-level (varies by airline).
Height: Women 155cm+, men 170cm+ (Indian carriers; Gulf carriers 158cm+ women).
Arm reach: 210cm on tiptoe (needed to reach overhead bins).
Education: 10+2 minimum; some carriers prefer graduates.
English: Conversational fluency required. Written fluency helps.
Vision: Corrected 6/9 acceptable at most carriers.

Grooming standards are strict: no visible tattoos, clear skin, well-maintained hair. These aren't discriminatory rules — they're safety and service-standard rules that every airline enforces.

Salary bands (2026)

Indian carriers

Entry level: ₹35,000–55,000/month + flying allowances
2–4 years: ₹60,000–90,000/month total
Senior / purser level: ₹1.2–2 lakhs/month total

Gulf carriers

Entry level: AED 8,000–12,000/month (housing included)
2–4 years: AED 12,000–18,000/month
Senior / purser level: AED 20,000–30,000/month

Gulf packages usually include free housing, transport, and 30–40 days annual leave — the total value is higher than the raw salary suggests.

The training path at Akbar Academy

Our cabin crew program runs 6–12 months and covers:

Cabin safety, emergency procedures and first aid
In-flight service standards (food, beverage, passenger interaction)

Airline interview preparation with real mock rounds

The airline interview process (what to actually expect)

Initial screening — height/reach measurement, grooming check, basic English test
Group discussion / group activity — the airline watches how you interact under pressure
Personal interview — typically 2 rounds with cabin crew management
Final HR round — salary, joining date, background verification
Medical & DGCA licence — medical exam and cabin crew licence issued by DGCA

Which carriers are hiring in 2026?

The Indian market is expanding fastest — IndiGo and Air India are running the largest recruitment drives, plus Akasa Air, Vistara (now merged into Air India), and SpiceJet. In the Gulf: Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, and Salam Air all recruit Indian nationals routinely. Our placement team maintains active pipelines with most of these.
